Off we go to Vradeto, the highest built Zagori village.
Our Vradeto Steps Hike starts from the village of Vradeto, at an altitude of 1350 meters. The stone-made steps were since 1973 the only connection between Vradeto and the rest of the world! A state of the art path made out of 1200 steps and 39 turns, that ends at the picturesque village of Kapesovo. During our Vradeto Steps Hike, we’ll visit the viewpoint Beloi, a naturally made stone balcony, providing us with magnificent views to the legendary Vikos Gorge. This masterpiece of architecture is a wide cobblestone path with three traffic lanes: two for people with white stone and one in the middle, for the animals, with dark stone. Until 1973, its stone steps were the only way out of Vradeto to Kapesovo and the rest of the world.
The 46 traditional stone villages of the Zagori area, named “Zagorochoria”, are beautiful and authentic as they had been protected by modern civilization.
Easy to Moderate. Previous trekking experience is not required although you should have some hill walking experience.
