Andros is the northernmost island of the Cycladic isles. The islands of Kea, Kythnos, Serifos and Sifnos can be seen as a natural continuation in the sea of the peninsula of Attika; in the same way, the nearby islands of Andros, Tinos and Mykonos can be seen as the foothills of the mountain ridge of the island of Evia. Andros is mountainous and crisscrossed with a number of mountain ridges, with deep valleys and some steep gorges.
During our Andros Island Village Hopping Tour we will hike from village to village, witnessing a rich variety of landscapes and exploring one of the most diverse Greek islands of the Cycladic complex. One of the comparative advantages of this tour, is that we spend each night in a different village, making it ideal to explore the best parts of this extraordinary island.
Moderate (8-15 km, 4-5 hours of walking per day)
The trails offer moderate/difficult grade hikes with a minimum of 3,5 hrs and a maximum of 5 hours walk. Participants should be in good physical condition with some hiking experience.
Ferry from Rafina port to Andros, private transfer and check-in at our accommodation. Welcome drinks and Greek ‘mezes’ in the evening, first meeting with a little talk and briefing about the uniqueness and the flow of our “Andros Island Village Hopping Tour”.
Our hiking adventure on Andros island will start today by hiking to one of the most impressive monuments of the island, the Hellenistic Tower of St.Peter. After crossing the picturesque village the trail continues West towards the monastery of “Agia”. From there, a nice descent with spectacular views to the sea will lead us to the seaside village of Batsi, where we will spend the night. (B,L,D)

After our mighty breakfast we are all set for a demanding and exciting hiking day! The trek starts from our doorstep, following one of the island’s oldest and longest routes “Fardia Strada”, dating from the Venetian times. The trail will lead us to Pitrofos village, with splendid sea views while we cross the mountain all the way to Menites village. A long trail with challenging elevations, four intercepting routes, breathtaking landscape and varied terrain! What a gorgeous day!

Hiking distance: 16 km / Duration: Approximately 5,5 hrs.
On this fourth day of our Andros Island Village Hopping Tour, we experience a combination of two different routes of the Andros hiking network and a section of the Andros Trail Race, all the way to Panachrados Monastery, located at the mountain range of Gerakonas (550 m.). The trail will bring us to the other side of the mountain, heading South to the picturesque villages of Korthi area. A lush agricultural landscape and splendid sea views will reward us as we head to Korthi village itself.

Prepare for one of the most popular routes of our Andros Island Village Hopping Tour, with an abundance of agriculture scenery. Our hike today is actually the old road, that leads to “Chora” (capital town and largest settlement of the island), connecting two medieval castles and being the central agricultural and commercial artery for south-eastern Andros up until 1950. The Upper Castle, the gorge of Dipotamata with its stone watermills, the arched bridge and Sineti village, are some of the spots we’ll cross until we reach the cosmopolitan Chora of Andros.

A relatively easy walk for us today, starting from Chora all the way to Apoikia village. A well preserved path through major settlements of rural Andros, going along the Pythara ravine to the small waterfall of the area, perfect spot for a refreshing stop.

Hiking distance: 8 km / Duration: around 3 hrs.
A majestic route, starting from Apoikia village, through the rural and mountainous Vourkoti settlement and towards the greenest area of the island, the forested valley of Arni. Walking on the ridge of the highest point of Andros, Kouvara, we will experience breathtaking views and a unique scenery!

After our delicious breakfast, we descent from the highest mountain of Andros and the green valley of Arni towards the cosmopolitan Batsi Town. One of the island’s greenest hiking routes with the most significant biodiversity, will bring us to the sea through dense vegetation and splendid views.
