    Tour Description

Join us on the Hills of Athens Walking Tour and enjoy 3–4 hours of easy walking and light hiking through some of the city’s most scenic routes. Using pedestrian streets and walking paths, this active city walk blends natural landscapes, urban stories, and panoramic viewpoints, offering a rewarding way to experience Athens beyond the busy streets.

After meeting your Aegean Outdoors tour leader, we begin with a short uphill walk toward Mount Lycabettus, a limestone hill rising above the city. From this elevated viewpoint, take in sweeping views of Athens in every direction and get a sense of how the city unfolds from past to present. Along the way, we pass by well-known landmarks such as the Presidential Mansion, the National Gardens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, all woven naturally into the city’s urban fabric.

A “secret” highlight of the walk is the charming Anafiotika neighborhood, with its island-style atmosphere and narrow alleys. Whitewashed houses, blue details, and colorful bougainvillea create the feeling of wandering through a small Cycladic village tucked into the heart of Athens.

Continuing through the historic hills of the city, we reach elevated open areas offering unforgettable views toward the Acropolis and across the modern cityscape. As we move through these landscapes, your tour leader shares local stories, everyday perspectives, and insights into how Athenians experience these spaces today.

Our route then leads toward Philopappou Hill, an area loved by locals for its green paths and relaxed atmosphere. From the top, enjoy panoramic views stretching from the Acropolis to Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf. The experience concludes with a walk along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, one of Athens’ most beautiful pedestrian avenues, passing alongside the Acropolis Museum and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
