Welcome to Santorini, one of the most iconic islands in the world, shaped by one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history. Our adventure begins on this mesmerizing island, where everything seems brighter: the whitewashed cube-shaped houses, the deep blue lapis lazuli waters of the Aegean Sea, and the unforgettable sunsets that light up the caldera.
Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your comfortable hotel, located in Fira, the vibrant and modern capital of the island. Fira offers a perfect blend of local charm and contemporary amenities, with narrow streets lined with shops, cafes, and stunning viewpoints overlooking the caldera.

Day 2Akrotiri Archaeological Site & Sea Kayaking Adventure

Step back in time as we explore the ancient ruins of Akrotiri, often called the Greek Pompeii. This fascinating archaeological site dates back to the height of the Minoan civilization (between 2000 BC and 1600 BC). The Minoans, who arrived from Crete, left behind an incredible settlement that was once a bustling city before it was tragically buried under volcanic ash from a massive eruption.
Led by an expert archaeology guide, you’ll stroll through the ancient streets and squares of this frozen-in-time city, marveling at its well-preserved buildings, vibrant frescoes, and intricate architecture. The visit will give you a rare glimpse into life during the Minoan era, offering insights into their advanced society, trade networks, and cultural practices. The experience will leave you with a deep appreciation of Santorini’s rich history and the catastrophic eruption that shaped it.

After the archaeological exploration, it’s time to get active with sea kayaking, a fantastic way to experience Santorini’s coastline from a completely different angle. We’ll paddle along the south coast of the island, venturing to places most visitors never get the chance to see. From the water, you’ll have the opportunity to admire the dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and hidden coves that make Santorini so unique.

During our kayaking adventure, we’ll stop for a picnic lunch on one of the beautiful beaches. Picture yourself relaxing on the sand, enjoying fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and taking in the stunning surroundings. After lunch, you’ll have time to swim, snorkel, or simply unwind by the beach, soaking up the sun and natural beauty of the island.

We’ll also paddle by the striking Red Beach and White Beach, two of Santorini’s most famous spots, where you can dive into the inviting waters and explore the vibrant marine life through snorkeling. The combination of kayaking, swimming, and relaxing on the beach is the perfect way to recharge and experience the island’s stunning coastline up close.

By the end of the day, you’ll have not only immersed yourself in Santorini’s rich history at Akrotiri but also discovered the island’s incredible natural beauty from the sea, creating unforgettable memories along the way. (B,L)

Day 3Caldera Trail and Ferry to Heraklion

Today’s adventure takes you along one of the most scenic and iconic hikes in the world—the Caldera Trail. We’ll set off toward Oia, often considered the most picturesque village not only on Santorini but in the entire Aegean Sea. As you walk along the ancient cobblestone paths, you’ll be treated to stunning vistas of the caldera and the expansive sea below. The trail winds along the rim of the volcanic caldera, far from the crowds, allowing you to connect deeply with the raw beauty of this incredible environment.

The hike will take you through charming villages, past whitewashed houses, and along jagged cliffs where nature’s power is ever-present. As you walk, take a moment to absorb the dramatic landscape around you, formed by volcanic eruptions over thousands of years. The colors, the cliffs, the sea, and the sky all come together in a breathtaking display of natural beauty.

After a rewarding hike, we’ll make our way to the port for our ferry ride to Heraklion, the bustling capital of Crete. Known for its lively atmosphere and rich history, Heraklion will serve as our base for exploring the heart of Crete.

In the evening, we’ll dock in Heraklion, and you’ll have a chance to relax after the journey. The city is home to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, one of the most important museums in Greece, and is just a short distance from Knossos, the greatest of the Minoan palaces. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Heraklion Archaeological Museum, Knossos Palace & Travel to Chania

Start your day with a fascinating visit to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, home to one of the finest collections of Minoan artifacts in the world. The museum’s newly renovated spaces bring the ancient past to life, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty and significance of these extraordinary finds. As you wander through the exhibits, you’ll encounter intricately designed pottery, stunning frescoes, and sacred objects, all offering a glimpse into the advanced civilization that once thrived on Crete more than 3,500 years ago.

This museum serves as the perfect introduction to one of Crete’s most iconic landmarks, the Palace of Knossos. After the museum, we’ll head to the ancient Minoan site, where you’ll explore the sprawling ruins of what was once the heart of the Minoan civilization. Wander through the maze of royal chambers, grand staircases, storerooms, and workshops—each corner revealing more about the daily life and technological advancements of the time. The site’s labyrinthine layout inspired the legend of the Minotaur, adding an element of myth and intrigue to the visit.

After immersing yourself in the history of the Minoans, we’ll stop for a delicious lunch, savoring the fresh local flavors that Crete is known for.

In the afternoon, we’ll make our way to Chania, a city that we truly love, and we’re sure you will too. Nestled between the White Mountains and the shimmering sea, Chania is a captivating mix of history, charm, and natural beauty. Explore the picturesque harbor with its Venetian lighthouse, wander through the narrow streets lined with vibrant market stalls, and discover remnants of the city’s rich history. Chania is the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern-day vibrancy.

Whether you choose to stroll through the lively market, relax by the harbor, or venture to one of the nearby beaches, Chania will leave a lasting impression and serve as the ideal base for the next phase of your journey through Crete. (B,L)

    Day 5Imbros Gorge & Frangokastello

No trip to Crete would be complete without experiencing the island’s stunning gorges—and today, we’re heading to one of the most fascinating and serene. Nestled on the southern slopes of the White Mountains, Imbros Gorge offers a peaceful yet awe-inspiring hike through a narrow and dramatic landscape. While it may not be as famous as Samaria Gorge, Imbros is equally impressive in its beauty, and with fewer crowds, it allows for a much more intimate experience with nature.

As you hike, you’ll be surrounded by towering cliffs and lush pine forests, the path occasionally narrowing to give you a sense of being enveloped by the landscape. In some sections, the gorge feels stiflingly confined, while in others, you’ll come across caves tucked into the rocks, offering glimpses of ancient mysteries. One of the highlights of this trek is walking beneath a monumental natural stone archway—a breathtaking feature that feels like a gateway to another world.

The hike will be invigorating and offer moments of awe as you immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of this untouched part of Crete. Once we reach the end of the gorge, we’ll take a short drive to Frangokastello, a magnificent 14th-century Venetian fortress situated right on a stunning stretch of beach. The fortress, with its imposing walls and fascinating history, is a striking contrast against the backdrop of the sparkling Libyan Sea.

Here, we’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch by the beach, where you can take in the serene surroundings, wash off the dust of the gorge, and savor delicious local dishes. With the fortress to one side and the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea on the other, this is the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the incredible journey you’ve had so far. (B,L,D)

Day 6Farm-to-Table Experience – Visit a Greek Farm & Explore Chania

Today, we embark on a unique culinary adventure that connects us with Crete’s deep agricultural traditions. Nestled in a small, picturesque village in the mountains of Crete, where the locals have been practicing agriculture and livestock farming for generations, we’ll visit a family-run restaurant that has been a staple of the community for over a century. This is a true farm-to-table experience, steeped in history and flavors passed down from one generation to the next.

Our day begins with a visit to the family’s ancient vineyard, located on a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. As we wander through the rows of vines, your hostess will share the secrets of vineyard care, explaining the delicate process of growing grapes, as well as the stages of wine and raki production. It’s a fascinating insight into the agricultural methods that have been perfected over centuries, and you’ll have the chance to ask any questions you may have about the farm’s processes.

Next, we’ll continue our walk through olive groves and chestnut trees, where the rich scents of fresh herbs and soil mingle with the crisp mountain air. This serene stroll brings us to the family restaurant, where we’ll enjoy a delicious meal that showcases the best of Cretan cuisine—from the ancient past to the present day.

Our journey begins with a scenic boat ride toward Gramvousa, a rugged and unspoiled island where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of geological wonders, dramatic sea caves, and crystal-clear waters. As we approach the island, the coastline reveals striking cliffs and secluded coves, setting the stage for a memorable exploration.

As the afternoon sun begins to dip, we’ll begin our journey back to Kissamos and then return to Chania, where a farewell dinner awaits. Tonight, we gather to celebrate the memories we’ve created together over the past few days—an evening to reflect on the incredible sights, experiences, and connections made along the way.

At the dinner table, surrounded by good food, friends, and the spirit of the island, we’ll raise our glasses to the journeys we’ve shared. As we toast to the magic of Crete, we say farewell, knowing that the memories of this incredible island will stay with us long after we depart. It’s been a journey of history, adventure, beauty, and most of all, friendship. (B,L,D)
