    Tour Description

    The Slovenia hiking tour is ideal for everyone who loves nature’s easy and pleasant walks. We will enjoy the beautiful Slovenian landscape, tackling trails of low technical difficulty and avoid steep ascents or rugged descents. Join this tour to visit some stunning viewpoints of the Julian Alps, walk by the beautiful lakes and along turquoise rivers, marvel the high limestone peaks, get to know the mysterious underworld of Karst and have a relaxed sunset walk on Adriatic coast. We will stay a couple of nights in our vibrant capital city of Ljubljana, enchanting alpine town of Bled, Slovenia’s outdoor adventure centre, Bovec and a night in our coastal jewel, Piran. Throughout the tour we will discover Slovenia’s natural treasures, get to know the local culture and people, learn about their way of life and taste delicious Slovenian food in authentic surroundings. There will also be enough time for some easy afternoon walks on your own, relaxed private dinners or (window) shopping in the centre of Ljubljana.

    Day 1Welcome to Slovenia, Ljubljana

    Travellers from around the world reach on that first day, the city of Ljubljana. Free time to explore the old town centre and its lively streets. In the afternoon, the group will meet the guide over a welcome drink, discuss the details of the tour and get to know each other. Overnight in Ljubljana, where you will dream about your upcoming and amazing Slovenia hiking tour!

    Day 2Velika Planina and Ljubljana

    We start the adventure in Kamnik-Savinja Alps just north from Ljubljana. We will visit one of Slovenia’s most charming alpine pastures, Velika Planina (= The Big Meadow). You will be amazed by the fascinating landscape and surprised by the interesting alpine architecture. We will also learn about the culture of the local shepherds by visiting one of the oldest huts in the area. After the walk we treat ourselves to a delicious home-cooked lunch in a very special place. Overnight in Ljubljana. (B,L)

    Day 3Bohinj and Bled

    Today we will continue to the foothills of the Julian Alps and first explore Lake Bohinj area, just over an hour drive from our hotel in Ljubljana. We will explore typical villages, crystal clear streams and deep gorges, walk along the gorgeous Lake Bohinj and enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery. After a nice local lunch we transfer 30 minutes to Lake Bled, walk up to a stunning viewpoint or just relax on the lakeside and have an unforgettable swim in the lake! Overnight in Bled or Bohinj.     Hike: 14 km / elevation gain +200 m, -200 m/ approx. 4 hours

    Day 4Pokljuka Plateau

    We will set off for the Triglav National Park, where we will begin our journey through the dense and magical spruce forest of Pokljuka. The forest path will take us to one of almost 2000-meter peaks, with the chance to taste dairy products made by the local shepherds. A short walk along the single track later, we’ll savoir lunch in a typical Slovenian mountain hut.
    Return to the hotel late afternoon and free time
    Alternatively, you can skip the summit ascent by cutting the hike short at the lovely mountain hut, where you can enjoy some downtime or take the rest of the day off instead. Overnight in Bled or Bohinj. (B,L)
    Hike: 12 km / elevation gain +700 m, -700 m/ approx. 5 hours

    Day 5Pericnik Waterfalls, Vrsic Mountain pass and the Russian Road

    We will start the day by visiting the impressive Pericnik Waterfall in the Vrata Valley. Walk underneath this stunning waterfall and freshen up underneath its cold water curtain. We will move on to reach the heart of the Julian Alps and the mountain pass Vrsic. We will explore this stunning area and walk along the fascinating road built by the Russian prisoners during the First World War. Spectacular mountain landscape and another tasty lunch in a fabulous hut! Overnight in Bovec (Soca valley). (B,L)
    Hike: 10 km / elevation gain +400 m, -400m / approx. 4 hours

    Day 6Soca Valley, WWI and the hidden swimming spots

    The day will be spent in the western side of the Triglav National Park in the beautiful Soca Valley. We will discover its hidden spots, swim in spectacular pools and walk along the fascinating Soca river, also known as emerald river for its intense turquoise colour. We will learn about the history and WWI influence on the whole area.
    Optional extra: Go rafting or kayaking on the beautiful Soca river! Overnight in Bovec. (B,L)
    Hike: 12 km / elevation gain +250 m, -250m / approx. 4 hours

    Day 7Skocjan caves, Vineyards, Piran

    Time to visit the Karst and the Coast. We will go underground and walk through the stunning canyon of Skocjan Caves, a Unesco heritage. Explore the vineyards of Karst and taste the excellent local food and wine. In the afternoon, continue to the coast to visit the most picturesque coastal town of Piran, get lost among its narrow streets and squares and enjoy the evening on the Adriatic sea. This is also the last day with your guide, as he/she will return tonight to Ljunljana. Overnight in Piran. (B,L)
    Hike: 7 km / elevation gain +150m, -150m / approx. 3 hours Driving time: approx. 3 hours
